WOODLAND CONTRACTOR SUPERVISOR

EACOM Timber Corporation is a major Canadian wood products company. Its operations include the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of lumber and wood-based value-added products, and the management of forest resources. EACOM currently owns seven sawmills (5 in Ontario, 2 in Quebec), a remanufacturing facility (Quebec) and an engineered I-joists plant (Ontario). We are looking for a Woodland Operations Supervisor.

Reporting to the Nairn Center Woodlands Superintendent, duties will include coordinating of contractor-based harvest operations and contributing to the woodland team forest operations planning.

RESPONSABILITIES

  • Daily Supervision of forest operations, including road building, harvesting and log hauling to meet the needs of the Nairn Center saw mill and external mill customers. This will include monitoring safety, environment and product quality.
  • Field location of harvest boundaries, access and harvest block roads.
  • Conduct safety and environment audits on contractors.
  • Perform all scheduled Environmental Management System (EMS) audits and develop and implement action plans associated with audit findings.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Annual Work Schedules on EACOM License areas.
  • Manage the aggregate pit permits and Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry compliance reporting.
  • Other related tasks.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Have a recognized University Degree or College Diploma in forestry or business, or equivalent experience;
  • Have acquired a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in harvest operations;
  • Be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, Arcview GIS (or equivalent) and GPS technology;
  • Clear understanding of the legislative requirements affecting forest management in Ontario and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Required to work outdoors in a variety of weather and terrain conditions.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
