Aplin Forestry Recruitment (a division of the David Aplin Group, one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies), is pleased to be searching for an established industry professional with senior level leadership experience to assume the position of  VPO – Forest Products with our valued Canadian client, based in beautiful British Columbia. 
The Role:
The VPO will be responsible for the performance and strategic direction of a complex, labour-intensive business operation (union and non-union) which includes primary lumber and residuals manufacturing facilities, sales & marketing, and supply chain/logistics. 
 
The Ideal Candidate:
  • You are equally comfortable in an industrial operation/manufacturing environment, dealing with financial business planning matters or presenting to a board of directors.
  • You will be able to develop, communicate and implement strategies to maximize profits while continuously improving production, quality and safety, as well as identify opportunities to grow market and customer base.
  • From a leadership perspective, you will provide appropriate guidance and direction to subordinates to ensure the effective implementation of action steps resulting from strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives, along with the capacity to quantify and measure associated improvements. 
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 10 years of demonstrated leadership in managing staff, groups and major projects or initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize a constantly changing workload while maintaining a high level of integrity and accuracy to meet key deadlines
  • Self-starter with the ability to identify problems and then develop and implement solutions
  • Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial analysis, accounting, reporting, and budgeting effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to wear many hats – from senior level strategy work to hands-on work
  • Ability to think strategically and make decisions in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated success in multitasking in a rapidly changing environment
  • Excel at operating in a fast paced environment.
