A career with The Coal Creek Company will challenge you to manage and care for more than 72,000 acres of company owned timber, work with private landowners through our consulting forestry business, and work with the largest privately owned off-highway vehicle park in the country. This is a minimum two-year appointment and may become a permanent position after the second year.

There are three main areas of focus; the management of company timber, forestry consulting, and recreation.

The Coal Creek Company 
    
The Coal Creek Company has been in business since 1872 and harvests approximately 5 million board feet of timber annually from its 72,000 acres of land. The staff forester will assist in determining the areas to be harvested, layout of the harvests, preparation of contracts and maps, oversight of harvest operations, and harvest inspections. The staff forester will be responsible for maintaining records of all timber harvests and will also handle all FSC related documents and fieldwork. 
    
Southeastern Forest Management 
    
Southeastern Forest Management is a subsidiary of The Coal Creek Company and offers forestry consulting services to the private sector. These services include timber inventory and appraisals, timber sales, forest management plans, timber theft investigation, hunting lease administration, property line maintenance, mapping, and recreation advisement.    

The staff forester is responsible for working with landowners to determine what is needed in order to accomplish their goals. This includes everything from the initial property inspection to the end of the project. Timber sales will include developing a timber cruise, mapping, cruising / marking the timber to be sold, timber sale notices, show dates / bid openings, timber sale closing, harvest inspections, and follow-up inspections. 

Windrock Park     

The Coal Creek Company property, called Windrock Park, has over 300 miles of OHV trails as well as a Down Hill Bike Course and other trails which are scattered across the property and play a large role in company activities. The staff forester will assist in various recreation activities as needed.  

Qualifications:

Minimum of BS in forestry. Experience with hardwood forest inventory, timber sale administration, and other basic field forestry skills are desired. Experience with ArcGIS software, handheld GPS units, and Microsoft Excel and Word is also desired.

Salary will be commensurate based upon experience.
