Position Overview:

Under the direction and supervision of the Forestry Superintendent, the Silviculture Forester provides technical and administrative services in the field of silviculture. Duties of this position include: post harvest assessments for block activity planning, contract supervision and management of all silviculture activities, and B.C. Silviculture survey experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring personal, company, and contractor safety in all areas of the workplace. The Silviculture Forester interfaces internally with other woodlands departments as well as outside contractors, Government agencies, and other key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forest Resource Management;
  • Active Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or pursuing a (RPF) designation (registered as a FIT);
  • Must have general understanding of B.C. forest policy, guidelines, and regulations;
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of the B.C. BGCZ system;
  • Possess a positive attitude and high degree of motivation;
  • ARC/GIS experience would be an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn are a necessity;
  • Ability to work safely within a team, or independently, in remote locations (willingness to work away from home, for extended periods);
  • Team player with strong organization, communication, supervisory and computer skills.
