When you join our team as a Procurement Forester, you will be responsible for procuring, managing timber harvest activities and coordinating log flow to meet the production needs of Interfor’s Port Angeles mill.

What You’ll Do

  • Cruise, appraise, and implement harvest activities on timber sales procured from USFS, BLM, ODF, WADNR and private sources.
  • Negotiate and administer logging and road build contracts on government and private stumpage sales.
  • Manage timber sale activities to ensure best value to Interfor.
  • Monitor stumpage sales to verify safe work practices are followed.
  • Report, monitor, and maintain a database related to stumpage procurement activities.
  • Develop pricing and cost strategies.Ensure that log quality specifications are met by harvest contractors.

What You Offer

  • Minimum Associates Degree in Forestry related field (forest engineering, agriculture, or similar), + 5 years experience. OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field + 2 years experience
  • 7+ years of experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license or the ability to obtain one
  • Knowledge of Pacific Northwest log markets.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proven ability to work in effective teams with a high degree of honesty and integrity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

At Interfor, starting compensation for this role typically ranges between $75,000 and $90,000 depending on experience.
