Responsibilities
- Maximizing the planer chain operating uptime
- Safety performance - "safety is a prerequisite to work"
- Quality control checks and recording
Tasks by Responsibility
Maximize Planer/Resaw Pull Chain Operating Uptime
- Be on the planer or resaw line at the start of the shift and after each break
- Understand each work order run instruction
- Be familiar with chain load locations, placements for each work order
- Be familiar with work order load sizes, stripping & packaging instructions
- Achieve performance objectives, both volume and quality, for each work order
- Pulls, leverages and piles lumber that varies in length, width, thickness and weight from 6'-20', 4"-12", 1"- 4" respectively and up to 75 lbs. in weight
- Identify and correct operating problems
- Ensure the chain operates efficiently including area clean up if time permits
- Anticipate and proactively respond to operational issues
- Inform lead hand or operations supervisor of operational issues and needs
Safety Performance
- Ensure work area is clear of any tripping hazards
- Correct unsafe practices and report unsafe conditions to the operations supervisor
- Immediate report of all accidents/incidents to the operations supervisor
- Communicate any safety issues/concerns to the operations supervisor
Quality Control
- Be clear on general grade distinctions for each work order
- Seek advice from QC coordinator or lead hand with any questions
- Fulfill all load instructions
- Identify & recommend initiatives to increase planer chain efficiency
Qualifications
Knowledge
- Process control knowledge in a continuous operations environment an asset
- Wood products value added remanufacturing an asset
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and manufacturing processes an asset
- Species knowledge, wood characteristics, grading knowledge an asset
Experience
- Prefer given to those with wood products manufacturing experience

Compensation
- $19.23/hour upon successful demonstration of competence
