WOODLANDS OPERATIONS FORESTER – 100 MILE HOUSE, BC

Reporting to the Woodlands Manager, the Woodlands Operations Forester is responsible for a variety of tasks in support of the delivery of logs to Norbord’s 100 Mile House OSB plant.

Key roles of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising portions of Norbord’s Crown timber harvesting program to achieve safety, production, log cost, log quality and environmental objectives
  • Establishing contract harvesting, hauling and equipment rates
  • Assisting with wood procurement activities
  • Assisting with cut permit development activities
  • Implementing Norbord’s operational safety, environmental and forest certification programs and ensuring compliance with plans and government regulations
  • Assist in the preparation of annual and periodic operations schedules, budgets and forecasts
  • Liaising with government agencies, First Nations, public and stakeholders regarding Norbord’s timber operations
  • Working closely with a team of dedicated forest professionals to meet Norbord’s objectives for BC Woodlands

This position requires a high energy and commitment level, and a positive outlook. Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills are essential, as are flexibility and the capacity to work collegially with people of different backgrounds and perspectives. The ideal candidate has degree or diploma in Forestry and is eligible for registration with the Association of BC Forest Professionals, with some experience in a related role. Candidates with less experience may be considered for alternate positions.
