Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Operations Forester is a key member of the team responsible for log purchasing, operational field supervision and assisting in the development operational plans within Norbord’s British Columbia Woodlands.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifying, recommending and managing log purchases to achieve the fibre supply and operating objectives.
  • Supervising harvesting, trucking, road construction, and assisting in the development of standing timber inventory on Norbord’s Crown tenures while ensuring compliance with Forest Management Plans, Acts, Regulations and Policies.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Problem solving abilities, negotiation skills, analytical skills, organizational abilities and relationship-building skills with knowledge of industry standards
  • A post-secondary degree in Forestry and are currently registered as a Professional Technician or Forester with 5 years of experience in a related role
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegially with people of different backgrounds and perspectives
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • A high energy, strong commitment level, and a positive outlook
