Integrated Investment Specialist

Salary 65,367.78 - $81,773.78 annually  One position available in Dawson Creek or Fort Nelson, B.C. This position is also posted as a STO27 under Requisition 61848 

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations has undertaken a new government initiative to provincially manage a coordinated delivery approach to forest carbon, improving timber supply, rehabilitating forests, lands and habitat, managing fuel and providing community benefits in conjunction with programs such as the Forest Carbon Initiative (FCI), Community Resiliency Investment (CRI), Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF), Forests for Tomorrow (FFT), the Forest Enhancement Society of BC (FES), Columbia Basin Trust (CBT), Rural Dividend (RD) and others designed to improve resource management. 

The primary focus of the position is to develop creative management solutions to strategic resource management issues. The position bridges environmental, social and economic disciplines of natural resource management to advance policy, ministry priorities and strategies, and operational delivery of stewardship outcomes. The Integrated Investment Specialist will lead a program team of multidisciplinary specialists across multiple agencies and the Specialist will lead the management, coordination and delivery of strategic initiatives with support from the program team.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • University degree in sustainable resource management or natural resource management field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) or an equivalent combination of education/training, plus three (3) or more years’ experience working in a natural resource discipline.
  • Registered, or  *immediately  eligible for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (e.g., Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists).
  • Significant and demonstrated experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project or regional initiative, including managing contracts.
  • Minimum 1 year demonstrated experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with stakeholders in natural resource management.
  • Minimum 1 year demonstrated experience in public and/or First Nations engagement and collaboration related to natural resource management.
  • Experience managing relationships with senior level managers and external stakeholders.
