Western Forest Products Inc. is currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-orientated GIS analyst with strong analytical skills in data analysis and reporting, data management and process development with a strategic problem-solving approach.

This position requires an individual to be progressive, innovative and flexible as information requirements and technology evolves rapidly.  The successful application will have demonstrated skills in continuous improvement and project management, with excellent communication skills to deliver superior customer service is essential.

Developing technical solutions for planning and Geomatics personnel to support corporate data management and reporting, analyzing trends and developing tools to support strategic forest management decisions will be a key focus for this vital role within the Corporate GIS team.

Description:

  • Performs complex GIS queries, geoprocessing, and other spatial and attribute analysis to support a variety of forest management objectives
  • Develop and manage enterprise geodatabases and perform data extract, transfer and load processes between related databases and various data formats
  • Continual effort to improve GIS operations and streamline work processes
  • Evaluate, assess, report and improve data quality
  • Prepare resultant data overlays for strategic planning and reporting
  • Support creation and review of technical and data standards

Key Qualifications:

  •   Graduation from an accredited   post-secondary GIS program and at least 5 years of experience in a Forestry   GIS role
  •   Extensive knowledge and   experience using GIS to answer complex problems and questions.
  •   Experience using the ESRI   suite of GIS products (ArcGIS and extensions, SDE, ArcGIS for Server) or   other GIS software
  •   Familiar with Cengea   Resources or The Forest Manager, Feature Manipulation Engine (FME), Crystal   Reports or SSRS
  •   Demonstrated experience automating   or scripting solutions for repetitive tasks (using tools such as Python, Model   Builder,  FME)
  •   Programming skills utilizing   Python, JavaScript and SQL will be required
  •   Knowledge and experience   working with LiDAR, ortho and 3D imagery
  •   Knowledge of databases,   database design and usage ( MS SQL Server, Oracle or MS Access)
  •   Experience creating web based   GIS tools and solutions would be an asset
  •   Results orientated with   attention to detail and data accuracy to produce quality output in a fast   paced deadline driven environment
  •   Ability to work as part of a   multidisciplinary team  and   independently as required
