Job purpose

The position of Lumber Puller is to pull raw lumber for the daily production. This position needs to have a thorough understanding of lumber grading and daily run lists. The position is very critical in keeping the line running. This person must be able to multi-task and work ahead to achieve the overall goals for the day.

 Duties and responsibilities 

  • Stage and pull wood as needed according to the production sheets and Timber Technologies’ specifications.
  • Unwrap and de-staple units of white wood to stock for production.
  • Keep yard clean, picking up skids, banding, stickers and paper.
  • Keep T shed stocked with all lengths of wood.
  • Keep green shed organized and clean.
  • Cut number two lumber into usable lengths.
  • Unload trucks when they arrive. Document any damage and ensure the goods match the paperwork before signing for it
  • Store received materials in the proper location
  • Moisture check material during picking. Sticker units of material that exceed allowable moisture content
  • Monitor inventory levels and inform the Plant Manager/Production Supervisor of low inventory levels
  • Package/bundle finished goods as they are run through quality daily as needed
  • Load outbound trucks as required:
    • Stage customer orders before the truck arrives to ensure completeness and accuracy
    • Develop a load plan to ensure the proper loading of trucks according to the amount of product and the lengths of the product to be loaded.
    • Load trucks per plan and ensure complete accuracy to the Bill of Lading (BOL)
    • Responsible to keep assigned forklift clean and organized. Schedule PM’s with maintenance for times with the least impact on daily activities
    • Keep the yard clean and organized
    • Other duties as assigned

 Qualifications

 Qualifications include:

  • High School or GED Diploma
  • Read and comprehend the daily production sheets, customer orders, BOL,
  • The ability to multi-task
  • Lumber Grading certification
  • Understanding of DOT regulations for weight limits
  • Use of measurement tools (tape measure)
  • Be proficient in the use of Powered Industrial Trucks.
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Able to work with little to no supervision

  • Able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Reach, stoop, squat.
  • Able to climb/descend in to/from Forklift repeatedly
