FORESTRY PLANNER - ENGINEERING IN CAMPBELL RIVER AT WESTERN FOREST PRODUCTS

POSITION OVERVIEW
Western Forest Products is hiring for our Forestry Planning team. We are looking for RPF’s and RTF’s from recent college graduates to experienced forestry planners. We are recruiting to achieve our vision of being the best Forestry Team in British Columbia. WFP has the most diversified and largest basket of forest tenures on the coast. Safety & Environmental Performance
- Provide leadership in safety and environmental stewardship by demonstrating and ensuring the adherence to company safety and sustainability processes and procedures.
Financial Performance
- Support the development of the annual road construction and engineering plans for the designated TFL;
- Layout roads and block boundaries that result in safe operations at the least cost and best productivity;
- Recommend effective and innovative strategies to drive cost efficiencies in the operation.
Leadership
- Provide leadership and direction to improve safety, reduce operational costs, and maximize value and margins while meeting customer requirements;
- Create and sustain a culture of accountability and continuous improvement;
- Protect Western’s reputation by managing issues, engaging support from senior leadership as required;
- Liaison with Production Supervisors to ensure plans are operationally feasible.
- Actively maintain current and potential mutually beneficial relationships with First Nations partners, Government agencies and public and private interest groups to support access to incremental fibre; and
- Liaison with Corporate Forestry Planners to assist in strategic planning.
- Participate in the consultation process with First Nations and other stakeholders, acting as a member of the information sharing team.
Operational
- Coordinate all engineering/planning, GIS, and development activities required for the annual timber harvest;
- Field layout of blocks and roads that meet operational and corporate goals and targets.
- Assist in the preparation of the various plans and assessments associated with cutblock development including:
- Cutblock Site Plans, Harvest Instructions, Road Instructions, Deactivation Instructions, Silviculture Instructions, Cutting Permit Submissions, Road Permit Submissions and related engineering projects including preparation of other applications as necessary;
- As required, assess completed activities for adherence to plans and enact corrective measures, as required;
- Ensure compliance with various Operational Plans and Company policies in regards to cutblock development;
- Provide assistance for planning waste & residue activities;
- Assist Operations Planner to compile and submit reports and summaries of timber under permit, timber developed, falling and bucking, and road progress
