Conifex Fibre Marketing Inc. is currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join the finance group on a one year contract basis.

As an integral part of the Sales & Marketing Team, the Financial Accountant provides information in finance and statistical systems, operational analysis, evaluation of capital expenditures and preparation of operating and capital budgets. This position supports the day-to-day execution of general ledger impacted processes, including accounting functions specifically in the areas of account balancing, ledger reconciliation, reporting and discrepancy resolution.Working directly with the Sales Controller, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for:  

 Responsibilities: 
 
  • Oversees and approves the capture and integrity of financial data
  • Coordinates and implements accounting work and projects as assigned
  • Understands, interprets, and explains financial accounting standards, corporate policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
  • Researches, develops, and implements processes, policies, and procedures
  • Provides informal leadership through coaching and mentoring peers and other staff members
  • Proactively develops, maintains, and manages strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Complies with all applicable laws related to fraud and collection procedures
  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, including month end
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Balances credit card ledgers
  • Calculate and report trader positions
  • Ensure accuracy of sales and general ledgers
  • Complete statutory filings for sales organization
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Inventory reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations and cash sweep
  • Month end accounting and preparation of reports 
  • CPA accounting designation
  • Exhibits professionalism and displays leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX accounting system
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office programs including: Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Ability to multitask and cope with conflicting priorities
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Customer focus and relationship building
  • Knowledge of general accounting procedures and software
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
