Jefferson TX OSB has an opportunity for an Electronics Control Technician.   This position will provide skilled technical and engineering support to repair, maintenance, programming and refurbishment of mill electrical system and automation projects. The position will assist in the management of projects, coordination of work, and execution of work related to electrical maintenance, electrical engineering and automation.  The major emphasis is on analyzing and solving complex technical problems and identifying opportunities to continually improve the uptime, reliability, and performance of equipment.  Responsible for project and maintenance reliability of EIC systems within an industrial environment manufacturing engineered wood particle board.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with other departments and across other engineering disciplines to design and detail industrial processes, motor controls, instrumentation, and power systems that meet business requirements
  • Ensure that control hardware and software, installation, PLC/HMI programming, and operational requirements meet specifications, codes, and end-user expectations
  • Design, specify, start, validate, monitor, and troubleshoot EIC systems including Sensor Specification and performance, PLC logic, electrical drives and motor controls
  • Program, troubleshoot, and configure Allen Bradley (Rockwell) PLC/HMI control systems
  • Detail control strategy for process areas, communicate, educate, and train technicians and managers on processes, equipment, and standards
  • Problem-solve process engineering issues and/or design issues by applying controls theory and engineering principles

Requirements

  • AA degree in Electronics Controls (or similar) required
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience developing motor controls programming for PLC controls and electrical drives
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability with root cause analysis required
  • Experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Implement design changes on programmable controller and microprocessor based process control equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
  • Have strong working knowledge of and familiarity with 480VAC, 3 phase motor control circuits,  Powerflex 700 and 7000 drives
  • Troubleshoot and program in RsLogix 5000, RsLogix 500, and PLC 5
  • Work with Rockwell RsView 32 is a plus

Compensation

Position is non-exempt.   Rate of pay is DOE.
