We are seeking a highly-motivated, career minded individual to join our senior finance leadership team as  Corporate Accounting Manager  based in our US headquarters in Germantown, Tennessee. This position reports to the Controller of U.S. Operations.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated abilities in growing and developing people, strong analytical and technical skills, and the energy and drive to support and grow the finance function as West Fraser continues to grow and build out our US lumber business.

Responsibilities:  Supervise accounting staff of 8 in the day to day operations of the finance and accounting functions including accounts payable, inventory, sales and use tax, bank reconciliation, invoicing, general ledger accounting, and associated analysis and reporting while ensuring efficiency, compliance and continuous improvement.

Day to day duties:  Manage the Germantown accounting team in the processing of financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records;

  • Grow and develop the corporate accounting team;
  • Communicate job expectations; monitor and appraise job contributions;
  • Resolve problems; identify system improvements; implement corrective actions;
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures;
  • Monitor expenditures; identify variances; provide meaningful insight to the business;
  • Support treasury activities;
  • Lead the interface on internal and external audits;
  • Engage in special projects supporting the business;
  • Partner with the regional controllers on operational accounting initiatives;
  • Keep sensitive information confidential;

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or other Business disciplines.
  • Proven knowledge of accounting and finance principles, practices, standards, laws and regulation.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong management and leadership skills; ability to direct and supervise.
  • Ability to explain complex financial data in clear, straightforward language.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to interface effectively both with local team and with Vancouver and Quesnel offices.
  • Deep knowledge of accounting software.
  • Handles pressure well.
  • Innate sense of integrity and ethics.
