CONTROLS TECHNICIAN

Idaho Forest Group is seeking a CONTROLS TECHNICIAN to join their team in Laclede, Idaho.The successful candidate will install, troubleshoot and repair all aspects of plant wide automation and process controls in their state of the art sawmill operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Administer HMI, optimizer, PLC and other controls/automation hardware upgrades plant-wide
• Work with, assist and train electricians in controls, automation, networks, etc.
• Design and/or manage the controls and automation portions of capital and maintenance projects plant wide
• Manage projects that are predominantly controls/automation oriented
• Oversee new scanning and data collection installations for the plant site
• Analyze machine center performance and tune, refine and adjust as needed
• Maintain production camera system and coordinate new camera installations 
• Keep PLCs, drives, SMCs, and related modules up to date with the latest firmware
• Continue plant-wide conversion from ControlNet to Ethernet
• Design HMI and Panel-View screens to increase operator awareness and ease of troubleshooting
• Program reader boards
• Provide backup support for plant wide IT 
• Maintain intranet and act as communication liaison to all plant personnel and vendors.
• Work with plant management to establish and maintain a robust, viable, long- term automation plan.
• Establish and manage project budgets to provide the lowest total cost installation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  High School diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman license preferred
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of programming and electrical/controls required
  •  Manufacturing experience desired
  •  Team player and ability to multi-task
  •  Self-starter, able to take initiative and work independently to drive tasks to completion
  •  Safety focus and able to quickly troubleshoot technical issues
  •  Willing to work various shifts as assigned to support production schedule

• Powerflex 700 and 750 series Drives
• RS NETWORX ControlNet and DeviceNet Systems
• Delta RMC Motion controllers
• Wonderware HMI Software
