Join a team of experienced foresters dedicated to upholding Stimson values as well as sustainable and sound forestry practices. This position will be based out of Plummer, ID overseeing the Benewah Block. 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES...

• Implement on-the-ground forestry activities and timber harvesting activities, road location and silviculture work as well as other management activities as they relate to meeting harvest and long-term productivity goals
• Compose harvest unit layouts and designs, perform slash disposals and site preparations
• Assist team with timberland fire protection and security
• Collaborate in order to administer contracts for harvesting, road construction and maintenance, slash disposal and site preparation as well as pre-commercial thinning
• Assist with tree planting and other reforestation activities
• Work with Area Forester in planning and related land use
• Travel to multiple locations to carry out forestry activities
• Collaborate with other members of the Resources team
• Uphold State and Federal rules and regulations as well as Stimson’s own Sustainable Forestry Practices
• Other field related activities as assigned

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS...

• This position requires a 4-year degree in resource management with a concentration in one of the forestry disciplines; at least 2 years of forestland management experience
• Strong knowledge of Inland forest types and silvicultural practices
• Experience in timber harvesting techniques
• Understanding of the local log markets
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Skilled in the use of computer databases and GIS software
• Comfortable working with various external contacts
• Ability to work in inclement weather and on variable terrain
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Ability to relocate
